About Bernard Walz
As one critic commented, “…one can only become more fond of Walz the more he plays…he brings you moments of genuine emotion…the joy and love of life he conveys with unfailing finesse…broad feeling, grandeur and telling tender moments…delivered with simple grace and musical sincerity…Walz is a man who loves to perform and entertain, not just play music…” (Marvin Reed, PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN, USA). Of Bernard’s performance of Rhapsody In Blue, harmonica virtuoso, the late Larry Adler, commented, “…I only wish George Gershwin were alive to hear Bernard play Rhapsody In Blue…he would have loved it…”.
Winner of seven national and international “Instrumentalist of the Year” awards, Bernard also achieved an ARIA No.1 charting album with his debut album, “Piano Passion”.
Classically-trained in piano performance from the age of six years, Bernard’s musical career has evolved to embrace conducting, arranging and orchestrating, under the mentorship of Australia’s “Maestro”, the late Dr Tommy Tycho AM MBE. He was conductor for the inaugural sunrise “Breakfast On Bondi” concert for the Crave Sydney International Food Festival, where 5000 people gathered, together with symphony orchestra, for a concert which commenced at 6am as the sun rose over the horizon!
As well as the Sydney Opera House, Bernard’s performing career has included performances at the concert halls of the Melbourne Arts Centre and QPAC (Brisbane), Sydney Entertainment Centre, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, and Festival Theatre, Adelaide. Internationally, his performances include Festival Hall in London (as guest of the BBC Concert Orchestra) and the Village Vanguard in New York and private performances across Europe and the USA.
Be prepared for an evening of superb music-making with BERNARD WALZ.
