Heart Foundation Event
Renaissance Living Surrey Hills recently held an event to raise awareness and money for the Heart Foundation.
The Heart Foundation function was a great success, raising over $330 from our gold coin donation and raffle.
We were given a great presentation from one of their wonderful volunteers and learned that heart disease is the biggest single killer and claims around 55,000 lives in Australia each year. We also learned about how to recognise a heart attack, what to do if you or someone near you is having one and how to recognise other symptoms that can indicate heart disease. Plus some great everyday simple things we can do to reduce the risks of getting heart disease.
Scott McLaren our local Chemist was on hand taking peoples blood pressures and testing for heart irregularities with some good advice around peoples medications and general health.
We had some great prizes and congratulations to Greg who won the hamper in the raffle and Lorraine who won the “Goodness Me” box as the door price. Plus some good company, conversation, great food and a few good wines some of which were Heart Health Friendly and some of which are more in the occasional treats group!
