At Renaissance Living, we want to make one thing clear — we are not aged care. We’re an independent living retirement village designed for people who want to stay active, social, and independent, while enjoying the peace of mind that support is close by if ever needed.
BUT, we understand that life can change, and sometimes yourself or your partner may need a higher level of care in the future. The good news is that Renaissance Living Surrey Hills is perfectly positioned, with three excellent aged care homes nearby — two within easy walking distance and another just a short tram ride away. AND we also have good relationships with each of them, which can make any transition much easier.
This close proximity is a real comfort to many of our residents. It means that if you or your partner moves into aged care, the other can continue living independently at Renaissance — surrounded and supported by familiar friends and neighbours — while still being able to visit their loved one quickly and easily. It’s a practical and emotional advantage that helps people stay connected and supported.
Of course, you’re free to choose any aged care home you wish but having done some research these three are well worth considering. All of them offer excellent care, with each providing their own range of services, pricing, accommodation options, and each has its own distinct personality.
Nazareth House, Camberwell
Just a 10-minute walk from our garden gate, this charming Catholic not-for-profit home sits amid expansive gardens and shaded verandas. Built in the 1930s and lovingly maintained, Nazareth House offers exceptional value, genuine warmth, and continuity of care through long-serving staff and a wonderful volunteer network.
The Gables (Opal Healthcare)
A 9-minute tram ride or 6-minute drive away, The Gables is an elegant Tudor-style residence with a café, landscaped courtyards, and bright communal spaces. Offering single, double and companion rooms, it provides excellent care, a mid-range price point, and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Regis Camberwell
Just a 3-minute walk from Renaissance Living, Regis Camberwell is a brand new modern, luxury facility overlooking a scenic creek and parkland. It offers a choice of accommodation levels — from mid-range to premium — along with professional care, resort-style amenities, and the reassurance of corporate oversight from one of Australia’s leading providers.
